I just got a post card from our wonderful government agency, the U.S. Census Bureau. It says that they have been trying to contact me about a survey. And they have - by calling my husband’s phone - not mine. They asked me to call them because my particpation is VITAL if they are to collect accurate information. So I called. I’m a US citizen and I believe in helping out. Why not, it’s just a survey. Well, they say oh we can only take this survey from you on a Saturday. Huh? What in the world does that matter!?
I just love how sensless our Census Bureau is!
So I asked them to remove me from their list of people to call. Do you know how they do that? They send a letter to you and then CALL again to make sure you want to be taken off their call list. Again, I say, HUH!?
Who makes the rules and procedures in that agency?
Most days I wake up to a baby screaming or at least whining at me through the monitor. This morning was no exception - except that it was way earlier than it should have been! He woke up at a quarter to 6 and wouldn’t go back to sleep. I changed his icky dirty diaper, cuddled with him, patted him, and shushed him. No luck. I finally just took him to our room. He wouldn’t even go to sleep in our bed this morning. Ugh! I’m just so tired. Whoever came up with the phrase “sleeping like a baby” to mean sleeping well was just plain stupid. The expression should be “sleeping like a teenager.” Now those people are good sleepers!
Love it!
Judicial opinions in common law countries, like the United States, clarify and refine the law of the land. They consider weighty issues, weigh conflicting requirements and carry much weight among all who read them. Here are some opinions for your summer reading.

Ok, so I’ve been a lazy blogger bum. I know. And some of you from CM have been asking why I said I would blog and then all I do is repost from Wesley’s blog. Well, I’ve been busy. So here goes -everthing since my last real post.
We sold our house in South Carolina and moved to Kentucky. Wesley is very mobile, eating a lot, almost completely weaned, and 10 months old today! And we finally own our house!
The SC house closed February 12th and we left for Kentucky the same day. That last week in the house was a nightmare. SO MUCH PACKING! Chris’ friend and his Mom came down to help up with the move. So we had guests on top of the packing - which was actually a good thing because I had someone to watch Wesley while I was running around with my head cut off. Somehow, not really sure how, we got everything packed and on the truck. Chris closed that truck, literally, at the last second before closing. During this week Wesley decided he was going to become a mobile baby and start cutting teeth! He was rolling everywhere and starting to army crawl - ugh! - nightmare while trying to move! Somehow, everything worked and we made it to Kentucky without much issues.
We lived in a hotel for a few days. Then moved into our new house on Valentine’s Day (no this was not my Valentine’s Day present - in fact I’m still waiting for my Valentine’s Day present). Chris’ friends were so very helpful in unloading the truck - and in the middle of snowmaggedon too! We were supposed to close on the house the next day. We moved in when we did because our mortgage guy said there was no problem and go ahead! FYI…don’t ever listen to mortgage guys. We didn’t close the 15th or even that month or the next! We ended up having to pay rent for 2 months while we switched banks - because Prime Lending in Spartanburg, SC sucks and kept us waiting forever. We ended up going with the Bank of Kentucky - they were great and got us closed in no time at all once we finally switched (of course the loans already been sold to another bank - but who cares we now have a house!).
Sorry for the tangent…
So we unpacked and waited for closing. We couldn’t get to work on the house because we didn’t own yet. So we just waited.
Wesley learned to crawl and pull up on furniture, cruise and open doors. He now is trying to stand all by himself and I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes a few steps very soon! He has 3 teeth and another one on the way. He’s talking a lot - but only really says dadada. I think he’s said mama a few times but nothing consistent. He eats pretty much anything you give him but seems to still prefer fruits over anything (unless you count icecream - that’s the best stuff!). He spends a lot of time in baby jail (a playyard that I couldn’t live without) because it contains him. But he loves to be free to crawl around the house. We just got his first outdoor toy and he’s getting used to playing in the grass. Also, among the his “firsts”, he crawled right off the bed this morning and now has his first black eye.
I learned to sew - or at least I got the sewing machine out and I’m starting to make things - clothes for Wesley. Chris is working is butt off. We’re learning the area (or I am, Chris already knows it), meeting people, and making plans for the house.
We closed today! So we went to Lowe’s tonight and bought the stuff needed to make the temporary shower in the basement. As soon as that’s working we can start demolishing the bathroom! I can’t wait! We’ve picked out the tub and the fixtures. I still have to pick out tile. But I think the bathroom’s going to look great!
My brother has been to vist twice and brought my Mom the last time. That was nice to have her here and be able to show her everything and for Wesley to spend time with her.
I’ve been planning his 1st birthday- which is only 2 months from today!
Hmmm. After reading this, it really doesn’t really seem like a lot of things happened. But trust me - we’ve been really busy and life has been a bit crazy. I expect that life will get even crazier now that we can start working on this house. I promise I’ll do my best to keep posting!
To CM SAHM ladies - I’l get back to menu planning soon. We’ve been eating out a lot - but that’s got to stop, so I’ll hopefully start posting menus next week - I’ll probably do them on the blog and not on CM. But I’ll link it there.
